We are fortunate to have very talented staff at Chelsea, including teachers who take on huge roles looking after our Chelsea Choir and the whole school production, enabling our students to participate in exciting performing arts opportunities.
Every two years, Chelsea School puts on a whole school musical production. These productions involve a great deal of work by our students and staff and are hugely enjoyed by the school community. Every year we also do a special Christmas Carol evening.
Our choir (APPA (Auckland Primary Principals Association) is an auditioned choir that is trained by Helen Lares. As well as training all year for their performances in the Bruce Mason Centre and Town Hall, the choirs also perform at school assemblies and at times, at community events.
As a whole school, we partake in weekly Jump Jam fitness sessions, led by the Year 5-6 Jump Jam team. Students also have the opportunity to participate in the regional Jump Jam competitions. In 2019, our Year 5-6 Jump Jam team placed 2nd in the newcomers category and our junior team won the “Spirit of Jump Jam” award.
